The ART HEIST – Save The Date!

ACGOW reminds its patrons to join them on Saturday, August 22, from 6-8:30pm for the 9th Annual Art Heist which will be held at the historic Westerly Armory on 41 Railroad Avenue, Westerly, RI. There will be an impressive selection of art valued at $250+ donated by members of ACGOW and additional local artists on view at the Gallery, starting August 5th.  Heist Ticket-holding participants will have an opportunity to “heist” works of art while they enjoy an entertaining evening with artisanal hors d’oeuvres, locally grown oysters, desserts, open wine bar, Grey Sail beer, and music. Tickets are also available for attendance without "heisting".

Spring is the season for new beginnings, and the artists of Artists' Cooperative Gallery of Westerly have challenged themselves to explore art outside of their chosen mediums. It is an engaging opportunity for artists to expand their creative vision by taking risks, working outside of their comfort zones shifting in focus to new ways of creating.

The show, “Out on a Limb - Artists Exploring New Mediums” is free and open to the public, with an opening reception from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, May 1. The reception will feature hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks as well as wine provided by Perks and Corks of Westerly.

In addition to a special display of works of artists outside of their established medium, the May show will feature works by members Richard Inserra and Melissa Verdier. Please click this button to learn more about their work:

In our United in the Arts Community Gallery is showcased the creativity and growth of students in the Visual Art Studio Pathway at Chariho Regional High School. As they prepare for future careers in the visual arts, students engage in the full artistic process, from research and creation to critique and presentation, while developing both technical skills and conceptual ideas. The work on display reflects their diverse perspectives, emerging voices, and dedication to becoming confident, professional artists.

Artist member Tammy Blais will offer two two-hour classes this month. Participants will an oil painting using only a palette knife. See more on our Education/Community Outreach page.

As every month, in the gallery’s west wing visitors will find a shop filled with all manner of small, affordable, one-of-a-kind handmade decorative objects, small paintings, framed and unframed prints, books, journals, and cards specially curated for the season.
