This October, members of the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly will step beyond the familiar and into a world where the mysterious, the marvelous, and the imagined take center stage. “Myth and Magic” brings together the work of all our member artists in an exhibition exploring the stories, symbols, legends, and moments of wonder that have captivated us across generations. From ancient myths to personal enchantments, these works invite us to consider what lies just beyond the ordinary—and what happens when artists give form to the things we cannot quite explain.

     Our October show is among the most eclectic of the year, featuring not only the work of the gallery’s 55 juried members, but also, its nearly 50 associate members—a group that brings together both established artists and emerging creators exploring new directions. ACGOW’s artists work in a wide variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, collage, sculpture, pottery, wood, fused glass and more.

     The show is made possible, in part, with the support of ACGOW’s sustaining sponsor, Perks and Corks, a coffee and cocktail café on High Street in Westerly, and with a generous gift from Westerly orthopedic surgeon in Westerly from 1978 to 2025, and children’s book author  Dr. Philo F. Willetts, Jr. 

     As always, the public is invited to a wine and hors d’oeuvres opening reception from 5-8 on October 2nd, the first Friday of the month. The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly presents a completely new exhibit every month and artists replace works as they are sold so there is always something new to see.

     Consider signing up for a palette knife painting class in October with gallery artist Tammy Blais or creating a five-signature long-stitch book/journal with gallery artist Janet Maher. Tammy will offer her popular class in palette knife painting at the gallery Tuesday, October 13th and again on Tuesday, October 27th.      As a complement to its regular monthly shows, ACGOW also houses a Gallery Shop in its west wing featuring small, affordable works by member artists and artisans. In addition to note cards and prints—both framed and unframed—the shop offers small original paintings and objets d'art.
