The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly is pleased to announce the opening of our 31st Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibit! During the Opening Reception on Friday, April 3rd from 5-8 PM, all are invited to view the newest and best work of artists from across the Northeast while enjoying wine provided by Perks and Corks, and hors d’oeuvres crafted by the gallery artists and local vendors.
Our thanks go our exhibit sponsorship from the Law Offices of R. Paul Kuhn, specialists in real estate, business organization, wills, trusts and estates, and to all the generous Awards Sponsors. Fine art and craft in all mediums will be on view and more than $3000 will be awarded for outstanding work. Awards will be announced during the Opening Reception at 6:30 PM.
For the last 31 years, the Artists' Cooperative Gallery of Westerly has invited a new, distinguished juror to curate the exhibit and bring a fresh perspective to the show. This year, ACGOW is honored to welcome Peter Geisser, former art director at the Rhode Island School for the Deaf. Mr. Geisser has been an active member of the New England arts and art education communities for most of his professional life. His extensive education includes a diploma and 5th Year Graduate Certificate in painting, ceramics, mosaics, and stained glass from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, a B.S. in Education and MFA from Tufts University. Geisser has taught at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Rhode Island School of Design, Dept. of Continuing Education; and the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. After thirty years, he retired as the Art Director at the R.I. School for the Deaf. We are delighted that he will attend and speak to everyone at the Opening Reception.
During this month our Gallery Shop in the West wing will continue to offer beautiful spring-inspired gift items, cards and prints, all finely crafted by gallery artists. Member artist Tammy Blais will also continue to offer her popular series of Palette Knife Painting classes.See our Education/Community Outreach page for more information.
