ACGOW in AUGUST "That's the Ticket — Travel"
August 5 — 30, 2026 Opening Reception, August 7, 5-8 p.m.
Many of the artists at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly (ACGOW) take great pleasure in traveling and capturing their experiences through their art. This month’s show spans a diverse range of subjects and themes, capturing the movement, discovery, and emotional depth of the artist’s journey.
The public is invited to come to the show and enjoy the “First Friday” Reception, which is a great opportunity to see the show and meet the artists, while enjoying hors d'oeuvres and wine. The August show will feature the works of juried artist members Elizabeth Goor and Edward Oslund in the main gallery. Click button, above, to our Featured Artists page (or this line).
On Saturday, August 22, ACGOW will host its 9th annual fundraising gala, The Art Heist from 6-8:30pm at the Westerly Armory. Tickets for the popular event are on sale at the gallery now – best to purchase one before they sell out. Prices are $150 for a ticket admitting two people to enjoy live music and the guaranteed opportunity to ‘heist’ a work of art worth at least $250; and $40 for a ticket admitting one person without the opportunity to heist art. There will be a wide selection of savory and sweet foods, including an oyster bar provided by Watch Hill and East Beach Blonde Oysters. Beverages include a wide selection of wine and Grey Sail Beer. The art for the heist is donated by members and other area artists and will be on view at ACGOW until August 19th in the Community Gallery. (See our Events page for flyer.)
The August show is made possible, in part, by two generous sponsors. John J. Gentile Jr. Law Office is a real estate and probate law firm that practices in Rhode Island and Connecticut. In addition, Perks and Corks, an iconic Westerly martini bar and coffee shop, is a sustaining sponsor that donates wine every month for the ACGOW Opening Reception.
Come see the art of our 55 ACGOW artist members featuring a wide variety of 2-and-3-dimensional mediums. The 2D art includes a large selection of oils, watercolors, encaustic, acrylics, pastels, mixed media, photographs, cold wax and oil artwork. Art patrons can enjoy a diverse approach in both representational and abstract styles. The collection of 3D art for the August show will include an array of pottery, fiber arts, sculptures, handcrafted wooden pieces, tables, and vibrantly colored fused glass. In addition, on display will be a stunning selection of colorful handcrafted earrings, pendants, rings and bracelets created with both polymer clay, lampwork glass and metal.
The Gallery Shop. As a complement to its regular monthly shows, ACGOW also houses a Gallery Shop in its west wing gallery. Visitors are invited to check out the Gallery Shop, which features an array of small, affordable works including framed and unframed prints, cards, miniature paintings, mobiles, jewelry, books and fine collectibles.
