Artists Cooperative Gallery of Westerly continues its mission to support and nurture the visual arts in the community by exhibiting the work of different groups in the greater Westerly/Pawcatuck area. In September ACGOW’s United in Arts Community Gallery is pleased to present the art created by the artists of Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center’s Tuesday Painting Group. Every Tuesday from 12:30-2:30pm artists of all levels are invited to the open studio at Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center (PNC) under the guidance of ACGOW artists Helen Roy and Paul Flanagan.

There has been a group gathering at PNC with various instructors and artists for more than 20 years. During the sessions, artists of all ages can explore their favorite mediums in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. The paintings created by the artists for the September exhibit will include works done in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, cold wax & oil and sketches. Education At ACGOW

Our United in Arts Gallery is part of ACGOW’s Community Outreach program. This community gallery is a dedicated space where ACGOW hosts artwork from regional schools and community art groups who do not have other venues to display their work.

For each of seven months of the year, at no charge, a different group or school has sole use of the United in Arts Community Gallery room. This opportunity provides an avenue for these organizations to promote the work of their members and students.

Some groups who have showcased in the Community Gallery include Invited Visiting Artists, Ninigret Quilters, Icon Painters of Enders Island, "Art it Forward" high school scholarship recipients, area public and private elementary and high school art shows, amateur art groups, and local non-profit organizations such as the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center and The Frank Ocean Center for persons with developmental disabilities.
