­      I was a pen and ink illustrator before turning to painting a few years ago.  My experience of careful observation and drawing influence my current work in oils.  Nowadays, my favorite way of working is from life, either outdoors (plein-air) or from a still life inside my studio.  I enjoy the challenges of lights against darks, warms against cools, and abstracting color choices within the composition.

­      I graduated from St. Lawrence University and studied studio art extensively at Parsons School of Design, School of Visual Arts, Silvermine, and Lyme Academy of Fine Arts.  My paintings have been juried into many shows throughout New England, and I have won awards for illustration and prizes for drawings and paintings.  I work out of my Mystic, CT, studio and am an Associate Member of Lyme Art Association and an Elected Artist at the Mystic Museum of Art.
