It was about 30 years since last picking up an artist’s paint brush, but with more time available due to retirement from the business world, I signed up for a couple of painting classes (acrylic and oils) to see if I still had an interest in creating art again.
I learned a few things from the classes but more importantly I found my interest in painting, particularly with oils (my primary medium) re-kindled.
Largely self-taught (and still learning) I gravitate towards painting landscapes and seascapes often including sunsets or sunrises as part of the theme. I describe my style as realism with idealistic or ethereal touches.
I have always admired J.M.W. Turner and Fredric Edwin Church (one of the Hudson River School of Artists) for their use of light and atmosphere which I try to emulate in my paintings.
