Cindy Horovitz Wilson Photographer

Photographer Cindy Horovitz Wilson says about her work: “Portals are passages that take us from one place to another. They can be in the form of windows, doors, tones, or gates. What lies beyond is a mystery, I am curious to cross the threshold and continue my journey. The portfolio of images I present here is also characterized by light. To walk through a threshold into the light of hope, joy and warmth is a rite of passage I am currently undergoing. It is the visual expression through my images that expresses the movement form darkness into light…a path I am so excited about following.”

Wilson is a resident of Wickford, Rhode Island, and has been making photographs of Rhode Island since 1976. She earned her BA from the University of Rhode Island in 1978, studied briefly at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and received her Master of Fine Arts from Tyler School of Art of Temple University in 1984. After 20 years in wedding photography and three years operating a gallery in Wickford, in 2009 she began teaching photography to local classes and led travel photography workshops in various locations in New England and around the world. Her journey continues as mentor and artist, where learning and experiencing with her students have profound ripples in her own creative process.

She is currently enjoying a year of Sabbatical where her love of photography is continually being enlightened through writing. She publishes regularly on Substack.
