Gerry Matteo Photographer
Gerry Matteo was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised on Long Island. After graduating from college in Connecticut she began teaching on Long Island, moved to Litchfield, CT, then to Ridgefield where she taught for 31 years. Retiring from Ridgefield High School in 1999 she moved to Charlestown, Rhode Island where she presently resides.
"As many “mature” photographers will say, we got hooked after seeing a photograph come to life in the developing tray. Photography has been my interest since the 70’s when I would spend hours in my darkroom, burning, dodging and even using nylon stockings and such as filters. Experimentation is part of my work.
Today I use a computer as my darkroom, still manipulating/enhancing my photographs. I photograph whatever catches my eye at the moment. Travel photography is one of my interests as well as old structures, flowers and some still life. Attempting something new always seems appropriate. For me photography is an adventure,
