Current Exhibition, August 2022: 30 Years of Art and Community
August 3 - August 28; Opening Reception 5-8 pm
Featuring: Rick Petrocelli and Melissa Verdier
Rick is a Rhode Island resident and oil painter with a studio at Agawam Mill Studios, West Warwick, RI. Inaddition to ACGOW, he is currently an exhibiting artist at Warwick Center for the Arts, Warwick, and Providence Art Club, RI. His work has received numerous awards in local and regional shows and exhibits.
"I paint in oils, combining old master techniques with lessons from impressionist and expressionist uses of color and varied paint handling. I strive for harmony between modeled refinement and direct application of color, which, I hope, enhances the emotional themes of my work and leads the eye on a journey through the picture."
In this exhibit Rick will show several oil paintings in a series entitled “New Saints.” The paintings are dedicated to immigrants past & present, who bring vibrant, life affirming energy, talent and hope to our community.
Melissa Verdier has worked in various media with a focus on figure and landscape studies. She has been included in numerous juried shows, winning prizes throughout Connecticut including Silvermine, Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, Mystic Museum of Art, Ridgefield Guild of Artists, New Canaan Society for the Arts, and in New York with the Historical Society Museums of Pound Ridge and Bedford. She was juried in as an elected artist with Mystic Museum of Art, CT and is represented at Artists’ Coop Gallery in Westerly, RI. Her works are in private and corporate collections throughout the U. S. and Canada.
Some of the beautiful coastlines and points of interest in Connecticut and Rhode Island have been included in a number of her paintings featured in the August exhibit at ACGOW.
